Mayor Clark Seems to Have More in Common with Radical Far-Left than with Constituents in Norman

· Clark is Reading Off of the Same Page as Classmates — including Chicago’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot Who Pushed “Bold” “Police Reform” · Chicago Has Fallen into Devastating Crime under Lightfoot’s Plan  · Clark Seen Begging to Get Promoted into Bloomberg’s next class of “global” mayors — perhaps she should focus on Norman first NORMAN — Something tells us that Mayor Clark may be trying to fit in with her radical colleagues in the East Coast Bloomberg Cities mayoral education program, more than she likes governing here for what’s right for Norman. Just a couple of weeks ago, Clark Tweeted that she was “incredibly honored” to be a part of the left-wing think tank’s program: And last year, she was touted as one of many “notable” mayors…

But a quick glance at Clark’s “notable” classmates in the Bloomberg Cities programs reveals a “who’s who” of radical mayors intent on defunding the police, hamstringing police authority, and other ideas far outside of the mainstream.

For example? Norman’s Mayor Clark actually holds the same beliefs as failed Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot when it comes to policing — policy positions that have been deadly, and devastating, for that city. According to CBS News, in early June, Clark’s associate in the program announced the need for “bold police reform” Source: Two weeks later, Clark did the same thing — using the same vernacular and spearheading an effort in Norman by defunding the police nearly $1 million. Sounds like they’re reading off of the same policy page. The problem is, Lightfoot’s policies have been devastating for Chicago. And with steep cuts to Norman Police Department’s budget now enacted by Clark, the future of Norman could follow the same path. Here’s a look at what’s been happening in Chicago surrounding Lightfoot’s “police reform:” NBC News Chicago: June 1, 2020 CHICAGO SHOOTINGS Chicago Murders and Shootings Up Six months into the year, 329 people have been killed in Chicago, an increase of about 34% from the 246 homicides during the same period last year, according to police. Shootings in that period rose by about 42%, from 978 in 2019 to 1384 in 2020. Shootings across the city increased by 75% last month alone, with 424 shootings in June 2020 compared to 242 in June 2019, according to police statistics. Murders in Chicago rose by 78%, with 89 reported in June 2020 compared to 50 in the same month last year. In June, the city saw its highest number of gun violence victims in a single weekend this year. The city has already seen more than 300 homicides this year, blowing past the benchmark that Supt. David Brown challenged the police department to stay under in April. Clark’s classmates and fellow mayors in the program have positions on “police reform” and hamstringing police authorities just as in Chicago that have led to one of the bloodiest years on record: NBC News Chicago Just this past Monday, July 27, 2020 22 Shot, 2 Fatally, Monday in Chicago NBC News Chicago July 21, 2020 25 Shot, 4 Fatally, Monday in Chicago And more weekend violence: July 20, 2020 Chicago Gun Violence: 11 Dead, 59 Injured in Weekend Shootings JULY 20, 2020 Several Children Among at Least 70 Shot in Chicago Weekend Violence Reports have stated that much of the violence is due to the out-of-control protests — which Mayor Clark herself supported. In June, she once again gave her opinion on national matters, stating we need “change as a nation” — *** It should disturb Normanites that Clark said she was “incredibly honored” to be part of the class with radicals like Lightfoot, who has become the laughingstock of a major failed city. We don’t want Norman to become Chicago. “It has become clear that the mayor’s policies are more aligned with other radical mayors in big cities that she’s met through an East Coast think tank, rather than constituents in Norman,” said Russell Smith, co-founder of Unite Norman. “We need leaders who project ideas that work here in Norman, not radical ideologies pushed in an effort to keep up with far-left classmates on the East Coast and in other failed cities.” “If you want to turn Norman into Chicago, then continue allowing the mayor to go down this path of radical ideologies,” said Sassan Moghadam, co-founder of Unite Norman. “The police have said they will continue to try to serve us well in spite of the mayor’s and city council’s radical actions, but good people can only continue against the grain for so long. We have to stop the mayor before she goes any further to transform the city into an unrecognizable place whose ideas reflect failed East Coast cities.” Lastly, Clark doesn’t seem content on serving just Norman; Clark actually Tweeted “at” Mike Bloomberg just last week that she wants a promotion into his next expanded class of “global” mayors — a class from around the world — that will focus on fixing Latin America and Africa. Seems to us, Clark should focus on helping Norman first.
